Opening hours update

Guildford College LRC

The opening hours at Guildford will be extended until 7.30pm on a Wednesday and Friday evening throughout January.

We hope you appreciate the extra time and we extend a big thank you to the staff who are working the additional hours to make this possible.

Banned!

BANNED!

If you were up early enough on 23rd November you would have seen a rare sight in the LRC at Farnham: 14 students wide awake, on their feet and enthusiastic! (I am talking 9am on a Monday morning…)

Here they are doing the Banned Books and Banned Films quizzes:

We were well supported by the English department who brought in 7 classes over the week, to have a go at the quizzes and be astounded at some of the books that have been banned. One of these classes decided to have a quiet reading session while they were here:

We explained that as part of Equality and Diversity week we wanted to promote freedom of speech.

The Banned Books quiz (57 entries) was won by Ben Porter, who is planning to buy some Oscar Wilde books with his token. There were 52 entries for the Banned Films quiz and Emma Wiltshire enjoyed her prize of a tub of chocolates!

Merrist Wood students showed great interest in the displays in the LRC and the Banned Books particularly aroused much discussion.

Hugh Penrhyn-Lowe (11040113) BTEC L3 Ext Diploma Animal Management student was the winner of the quiz.

At Guildford College Toby Harris St John won the prize for the Banned Films.
